Cozy Winter Beach Session on Pensacola Beach, Florida
Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a winter beach session on Pensacola Beach that was particularly meaningful. The family I photographed is very special to me: the mother is a friend of mine, and her three sons include my son's best friend.
We rented a stunning dress for mama for the session, and only had two options to use it before we’d have to ship it back. When the first session time option got close, it was going to be too stormy, so we decided to move the session to the following morning at sunrise. While the gloomy weather hadn’t completely disappeared, the storms were gone (thankfully!). This was one of the darkest, most windy sessions I’ve had recently and let me tell you that it was COLD! Typically, I would have rescheduled if possible but this was our last option to use this beautiful dress so we were determined to go for it!
Despite the less-than-ideal weather, the soft, muted light created a serene setting that beautifully complemented the family's closeness. And meeting at sunrise added a unique atmosphere to the shoot - there was absolutely no one else on the beach that morning!
When mama and I discussed whether or not to move the session to sunrise, she had to consider how her boys would do waking up so early - and they were perfect! These brothers are truly best friends, and they didn’t shy away from playing together and hugging on each other. I think they had a great time despite how cold it was. And mama absolutely rocked it in that dress! We did stay away from the water because it was just too cold for that.
In the end, the weather added a touch of coziness to the session. As the sun rose higher, casting a soft glow on the beach, I felt grateful for capturing these meaningful moments for a family that holds a special place in my family’s life. We created lasting memories that highlight the love between this sweet family.
Seriously, this family cannot get any more gorgeous! I hope you enjoyed this session as much as I did. If you’re looking for a Pensacola Beach Photographer, I’d love to chat! Click here to reach out!
